Asian Hematology Association (AHA), established in 2003, is an Asian-wide, individual-based, non-profit academic organization by the voluntary cooperation.
The AHA is open to any Asian hematologist who is interested in advanced Hematology.

Name and Status

1.The Asian Hematology Association, AHA, is an international organization connecting academic societies of Hematology in Asia.

2. The organization is open to any Asian hematologist who is active in hematological research and development.

Objectives

3. The objectives of AHA are:

  1. to provide young hematologists a collaborative platform for promoting scientific exchange and cooperation in Asia for progress in advanced hematology in Asia,
  2. to develop and promote Asian harmonization properly by integrating the emerging advances in science and technology,
  3. to cooperate with hematology societies in Asia.

Activities

4. For these objectives, the AHA may have the following activities:

  1. to identify and examine issues of mutual interest in Asia for evolving proposals for action by related agencies and international bodies,
  2. to obtain and disseminate widely information needed for all activities of the AHA,
  3. to establish funds for achieving scientific programs according to the AHA objectives,
  4. to provide expert opinion/informed advice on scientific issues,
  5. to convene regular business meetings, conferences/symposia on demand for operating smoothly each AHA program.

[Membership]

5. The AHA consists of members who are actively engaged in basic and clinical research in hematology and honorary members.

6. Each of the members has a right to attend a meeting as a body, to give his/her opinions at the meeting, and to cooperate for the AHA activities.

[Organization]

7. The AHA is organized by the followings:

  1. The Management Board consisting of one or two representatives elected from each authorized academic society in Asia,
  2. The Advisory Committee consisting of members of more than 65 years old,
  3. The General Assembly being constituted by the total membership,
  4. The Secretariat at Tokyo for assisting the total activities of AHA.

Functions of the Council Board

8.The Management Board Meeting is held at least once a year, where the following subjects shall be discussed for proposals to the General Assembly by consensus of the Board Members:

  1. Election of one President, two Vice-presidents, and one Secretary General/Treasurer of the AHA having a 2 years term,
  2. Amendments of the Statutes and By-laws,
  3. Formulation of the rules and regulations,
  4. Preparation of the action plan and budget of AHA,
  5. Review of the past activities,
  6. Establishment of the sub-committees which are necessary for the AHA activities,
  7. Report and statement of accounts from the Board,
  8. Other related issues.

Functions of the General Assembly

9.The AHA members shall meet as a body in General Assembly chaired by the President once a year, where the proposals by the Council Board (the Management Board) should be approved by consensus of the members present.

10.Between the two successive meetings, the General Assembly shall carry out its functions by correspondence.

Functions of the Secretariat

11.The Secretariat-General has a responsibility for managing the Headquarters

12.The Secretariat office should carry out business works necessary for assisting the General Assembly, the Management Board Meeting, and other AHA-related meeting.

13.As Supplementary Rules:The Secretary General/Treasure should report of the results with an annual financial inspection on income and expenditure each year
