![]() As a Chairman of AsiaCORD, it is my great pleasure to announce the AsiaCORD 2013 that will be held on April 19 - 20, 2013 in Kobe, Japan. AsiaCORD was founded in November 2000 in Bangkok, Thailand, in order to establish internationally standardized cord blood banks in Asian cities and rapid search and supply of high quality cord blood for Asian patients. Since cord blood bank systems are established in each country and physicians can now obtain cord blood via search systems in their own country or international registries, major activities of AsiaCORD has been gradually shifting much more toward sharing advanced scientific knowledge and technology for cell banking and transplantation, including hematopoietic/mesenchymal stem cells. The last AsiaCORD meeting 2011, in Beijing, China, having Prof. Kai-yan Liu as Chairman, we had many fruitful discussions including not only cord blood but also umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells in which Asia is leading in research. AsiaCORD, is open to membership applications from additional private/public cord blood banks in Asia who are able to comply with the standards and share their goal to supply cord blood units of the highest quality to patients, and also to individual members, basic scientists, physicians, medical technicians, nurses and other paramedical staffs. At the AsiaCORD 2013, considering the enormous potential and possibilities in stem cell researches, I have chosen the theme of “New Perspectives in Mesenchymal Stem Cell Research” where we are planning several symposia and workshops. We are very much looking forward to your participation together with your colleagues for further fruitful and active discussion through the rapidly progressing cellular therapeutics. I am looking forward to welcoming you to Kobe in April 2013. Sincerely yours, Shigetaka Asano, M.D,. D.M.Sci. #000111 President of the AsiaCORD 2013 Chairman of the AsiaCORD |
